Today we bring you a modern classic, a sandwich originated in South Africa, but that has travelled around the world.
This sandwich is easily adaptable to suit all diet preferences, and we are bringing you the Vegan version.
And this time, we made the chips ourselves.
- Fresh Lettuce
- Grated Carrots
- Tomatoes thinly sliced
- Smoked Paprika
- Chili Flakes
- Tomato Beans
- Fresh half loaves
- Dollas Garlic Salt
Start with the potatoes. You can get them pre-made, but this time we made it ourselves. Peel the potatoes, wash them, and cut them into chopsticks. Deep fry, twice, to ensure crunch.
Chop the lettuce.
Grate the Carrots
Slice the tomatoes
Chop the celery
Chop the onions
Fry the onions, until translucent, set aside.
Fry the celery with the Smoked Paprika, Ma Dolla used three teaspoons and one teaspoon chili flakes. Add the tomato beans, mix together with the garlic, and set aside.
Prepare the half loaves, cutting them down the middle, making two, or if you are a wild one, in half.
Prep the sandwich, layering the fresh salad, then the beans, and lastly the delicious chips.
Salt to taste, we used Garlic Salt from Dollas – shameless self plug.
And then unhinge your jaw like a snake and enjoy this incredible meal.
Or you know, cut into pieces and be presentable.
Happy eating Dollas.
